August 2019 Thrift Haul
Hey y’all! It’s been forever and a day since I’ve posted. I, yet again, allowed social media and “Pinterest worthy” aesthetics to make me feel like I wasn’t a good enough blogger. But you know what? Who cares? I enjoy fashion and my imperfect life, so I am going to continue to writing and taking pictures. So yes, I’m in the (slow) process of redecorating my home and yes you will see my daughter dancing and playing in the background of many of my photos. With that out of the way, let’s get into what I thrifted last month.
I was watching a YouTube video by KarenBritChick, blogger of Where Did You Get That, and it was at the 29:18 mark of the video that I saw it. The fashionista in the video was wearing a black short sleeved top that was both sheer and floor length. She paired the top with jeans and a pair of wicker flats. I instantly told myself, “Oh, I can find something similar at Goodwill. I already have the jeans and shoes to match.” Who knew an hour or two later I would actually find something like it?! I think wearing a thin black turtleneck underneath would make this the perfect Fall look.
I can’t ever go thrifting without rummaging through the dresses. In fact, it’s usually the first section I visit. When I saw this dress on the hanger, I immediately thought of the teacher next door to me at work. She’s an older lady that always wears the cutest shift dresses. Everything about her screams “Living my best Palm Beach life!” So shout out to Ms. Nana for inspiring me to pick up this little number!
I hate to admit it but I still sleep in sweatpants and baggy t-shirts. *hangs head in shame* I’ve been wanting to revamp my night wear but these budget constraints are real. But then God sent me a little message via this blog post from Latonya Yvette. I’d already had two black satin slips that I somehow forget exist. This cream colored is definitely a nice addition to the collection. I now put all three to use and let me say not only do I sleep better but it feels amazing to wake up in the morning in something so delicate. Upgrade your jammies and I promise you will change your entire life.
