#12: Marriage, Moving and Minimalism
Hello Loves! I pray that everyone is enjoying this beautiful Sunday evening. From the title of this blog post, I'm pretty sure that you can see that I am undergoing some major life changes.
The first and most important of them being that I got married! Yes! On Monday, May 19th, 2014 I was blessed to have married my best friend.
Le sigh.
It was just a year ago I’d released myself from a long-term relationship and couldn’t imagine being in another one any time soon. But because I feared the possibility of my heart hardening, I prayed (and prayed) that the Lord would restore the peace in my life and soul so that I would be open to real love when the time was right.
My prayers were answered when I realized that my best friend, Ryan, was the one. Sounds too soon? Too good to be true? I thought the same as well so I began asking God to send me specific signs if this was the man I could give my heart to.
I’m talking VERY specific signs. Like “God if he’s the one, then he needs to say/do (insert something random here).” And to my surprise every sign I asked for was fulfilled. November 1st, 2014 our courtship began and six months later we’re happily married!
Of course with getting married comes the inevitable…ending this long distance relationship and living in the same city. I live in a small, rural town so naturally I felt it would be easier for me to relocate. He lives in the largest city in Florida so the job opportunities (and entertainment) would be abundant for the two of us.
I am also a traditional type of girl so I believe that as the wife I should follow my husband. OMG you guys! This time next week we will be in our new apartment. I cannot wait! I love him so much!
With the boxing up of all my personal things came the perfect time to rid my wardrobe of things that I don’t love anymore. Crazy thing is that during my honeymoon I was inspired to revamp by entire closet. By who or what you may ask? My husband. Lol! I know. It still sounds strange to me but as I watched my Muffin take a few basics and create an entire week of ensembles it hit me…
I wanted to live like that. To wake up and not feel overwhelmed by the amount of clothes in my closet, but instead to enjoy the “getting ready” process each morning. When I really think about things, I usually pull for the same pieces or same color palette anyways. Follow my board on Pinterest for my dream wardrobe and looks. Totally that of a minimalist vibe. Effortless chic. Timeless and classic. Ugh. I live!
